The Last Trumpet

This post be a place for you to discuss the meaning of the last trumpet as discussed in the E.R. model. It will be updated on a periodic basis. Included in the discussion will be:

  • Is the trumpet of God actually his voice that shakes the heaven and earth?
  • The pattern of the trumpet voice of God at Mount Sinai after the Egypt exodus.
  • Paul's quotation of Haggai's "once more" prophecy in Hebrews chapter 12.
Until then, please feel free post questions or comments on this topic!

In Christ,
Dave

Hello. I just stumbled across your website and found it fascinating--and right along the lines of things the Holy Spirit has been bringing to my attention in many, many ways in these past several weeks--the seals, the trumpets, the rapture of the Church, the resurrection of believers. I keep bumping into these things in all sorts of ways. I'm not sure what the last trump is, but I heard a Messianic rabbi from OH teach two weeks ago that the Exodus story is a type of the struggles of the Church, especially just before the rapture. He said that he believes the parallels between the plagues and the Revelation account of the seals, trumpets and bowls are unmistakeable--not precisely equivalent, but strongly typical (a type, that is). He said he believes the Church will suffer the effects of all 7 seals and trumpets, but will be snatched away before God's wrath is poured out from the bowls. I'm really not a scholar, but I have to wonder if he's onto something, and as I see the increase in godlessness and antipathy toward Christianity (the first seal), the constant wars (the second seal), the recent and apparently unexpected economic meltdown with only the rich seemingly not paying the price--like Madoff, Obama's newly nominated Sec of Treas, and even Hillary Clinton whose foundation is accepting millions from sworn enemies of the USA--(the third seal). And just a few days ago I read where 40 alQuaida terrorists died from anthrax when some sort of accident occurred in their camp--is bioterrorism on its way?(the fourth seal). I can only say that whatever the 7th trumpet is, Revelation says it is followed by what might be called stunned silence--such as may occur when millions of people disappear. I haven't read your book, I'm not sure whether the rabbi is spot on--both of you may be right, or neither of you, in the details. One thing I know, though, Jesus is at the door and time is very short. Everything within me knows that--blessings, j

Anonymous/j. & David Lowe,

I've been studying Revelation on and off for a few years; but, I began again in earnest in the past few months or so. I do believe the Messianic Rabbi j. speaks of here is right in his belief of the rapture:

He said he believes the Church will suffer the effects of all 7 seals and trumpets, but will be snatched away before God's wrath is poured out from the bowls.

This is EXACTLY what I've just determined from an independent study! Just look for the words "mystery," "trumpet," "last trumpet," "angels" [plural instead of singular 'voices'], in the following passages:

1 Cor 15:51-52
Matthew 24:31
1 Thess 4:15-17

Now compare to Rev 10:7 ["seventh trumpet;" "mystery"]; Rev 11:12 ["loud voice" -- I believe this is singular as it's just for the two witnesses; perhaps a prelude immediately preceding the rapture of the seventh trump]; Rev 11:15 ["seventh angel" blew trumpet; "loud voices" (plural)]. To me, "The kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord..." means that the earthly 'kingdom' of saints is now in the Heavenly Kingdom via the rapture.

Further, I believe if we look at the Olivet Discourse [Matthew 24] we will see it's a chronology. The 'abomination that causes desolation' in verse 15 precedes the rapture in verse 31. Verse 15 can only mean that the Antichrist is already here in the world; and, then verse 22 makes it clear that we Christians will be around for this post-"Beast" era. This correlates to Rev 9:1-2 & 11 and Rev 11:7 as well as Revelation chapter 13 [Revelation 13 expounds on Rev 9:1-2, 11; Rev 12:7-9, 13, 15-17].
