The Enormous Rev. 7 Crowd

This post be a place for you to discuss the identity of the enormous crowd of people before the throne in Rev. 7 as discussed in the E.R. model. It will be updated on a periodic basis. Included in the discussion will be:

  • The significance of this group's appearance at this point in the Revelation chronology.
  • Their distinction from those martyred under the rule of the beast and false prophet.
  • Why does it say they came out of the great tribulation?

Until then, please feel free post questions or comments on this topic!

In Christ,
Dave

I think the enormous crowd are the Raptured/resurrected saints.

Revelation 7:16-17 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

The tribulation they went through are the thirst, the hunger and the heat of the sun, I think this is a description of the trials/hardship of life that every believers will go through.

David, I was on a long business trip the other day in my car listening to Chuck Missler who said that the church of Philadelphia, the sixth of the seven churches mentioned in Revelation, represented the Rapture. I immediately thought of your book's premise. If the sixth church of Philadelphia represents the Rapture, that could be a type or typology for your sixth seal earthquake resurrection model.

I vaguely remember reading about other bible scholars interpreting the number 6 out of 7 elsewhere in the bible as representative of the Rapture. If that's true, given the extensive use of types in the bible, that's just another indicator that your premise is correct.

I understand the idea of the Rapture as mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4:15- 17; but I wonder when it happens, as the Enormous Crowd of Revelation 7 says that "they have come safely through the terrible persecution.

My question is: Are these two different groups - ie.the raptured being Christians who are taken before the tribulation; and the enormous crowd being doubting believers who become true believers during the tribulation?

Is there some way of knowing when the rapture takes place in the end times timeline? David Jeremiah says the Rapture Must take place before the Anti-Christ comes, and before the Tribulation. Where in the Bible is that stated?
Thanks for helping me sort this out!

I understand the Rapture from 1 Thessalonians 4: 15 - 17;but I wonder how it relates to the enormous crowd of Revelation 7, who in verse 14 are said to have come safely through the terrible persecution.
Are these two different groups: 1 Thess being the true believers taken up before the Tribulation; and the enormous crowd of Rev 7 being doubting believers who become "true" believers during the Tribulation, but protected just as the Jews were during the 10 plagues of Egypt?

When does the Rapture take place? David Jeremiah says the Rapture Must take place Prior to the coming of the Anti-Christ and the Tribulation.
Can anyone clarify this matter for me with Biblical statements?
Thank you for your help!

Hi Ron,

Thanks for visiting my blog.

As explained in detail in my book Earthquake Resurrection, the enormous crowed of Revelation 7 is the same as the I Thes 4:16-17 resurrected and caught up (raptured) believers. In the book, careful detail is paid in walking through Revelation chapters 4 through 7 to understand the timeline questions that you are asking. In fact, at the beginning each chapter is shown a timeline to help walk through the events.

As for where in the Bible it is stated that the resurrection/catching up event takes place prior to the day of the Lord's wrath, there are many places in both the OT and NT, which are also explained in detail in Earthquake Resurrection as well as Then His Voice Shook the Earth, my second book. The coming of an antichrist and "tribulation period" are not covered in detail in my books, because I explain a different meaning of the word "tribulation".

Please send me an email if you are interested in the books and more discussion!
